My Story
Shari and her husband, Dr. Keola Chun moved to Riverside from Hawaii with their two-year-old son to start a practice in Orthopedic Spine Surgery in 1999. Since that time, they have made Riverside their home. The Chun Ohana became a family of five with the birth of two more sons. Shari devoted her time to raising their three sons, as well as volunteering at the boys' schools and sports, family's church, and other non-profit organizations.

Shari's involvement with Parkview Legacy Foundation began in 2017, as a volunteer on the fundraising events committee for the Parkview Community Hospital Foundation. She believed in the value of the medical equipment that the Foundation contributed to the hospital and thus the community's health care and enjoyed helping to coordinate the galas and golf tournaments alongside wonderful leaders and mentors. When the opportunity was presented to become a staff member of the Parkview Legacy Foundation, Shari was excited to join Damien and assist him in his important work for the Inland Region. She was honored to be promoted to the External Affairs Manager and looks forward to assisting Damien in distributing funds through the Parkview Legacy Foundation Impact Grants Program.

The COVID-19 pandemic reignited Shari's love for the nursing career she had put aside since leaving Hawaii. She volunteered with the Riverside Medical Clinic vaccine program, then was later hired as a Registered Nurse working in the Radiology, Cardiology, and Medication Departments on a part-time basis. Shari enjoys working with patients to maintain and obtain wellness.

The desire to improve the lives of her community members led Shari to co-found Riverside Heartsavers, a non-profit organization aimed at improving survival from cardiac arrest. The organization offers American Heart Association-certified CPR, AED, and First Aid classes, Opioid Overdose and Narcan Administration training, AED distribution, and Safety Planning.

Shari is a member of the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Signature Fund Committee at the Inland Empire Community Foundation. She also serves as a grant reviewer for IECF.
