Why focus on poverty?
9.8% of Riverside County and 12.6% of San Bernardino County Residents Live in Poverty
The Inland Region is facing a housing crisis where:
56,456 households do not have access to an affordable home
85% of ELI households spend more than half of their income on housing
70% of residents cannot afford to purchase a home
The Poverty Abolitionist Coalition has now launched. We are calling on all organizations and institutions who work with those somehow impacted by generational poverty to join with us in eliminating the cycles of generational poverty in our region as we currently know them. It will take all of us strategically working together to ensure we are moving forward simultaneously at the individual, organizational, community, policy, and systemic levels as well as in making sure these considerations are in every conversation in which they are needed.
This is what we intend to foster.
